Decision to release tapes appealed

Proposition 8 proponents on Thursday appealed a federal judge's order unsealing digital recordings of last year's trial about the fate of same-sex marriage in California.

Northern District Chief Judge James Ware ruled Monday the trial tapes could be unsealed if his order allowing it wasn't successfully appealed, or the stay extended, by Sept. 30.
