Novelist sues over film based on his story

A novelist has sued his creative partners for producing a film based on his original story without obtaining the rights. The case stands as an example to independent filmmakers of how not to go about the optioning process.

LOS ANGELES - A noir novelist and screenwriter has sued a producer-director partnership for allegedly making a film based on his original novel without first obtaining the rights or his approval of creative changes to the script.
