As budget and governance issues raged at the Capitol in recent months, Sacramento County Superior Court Presiding Judge Laurie Earl said she found herself placing phone calls across California - to other female presiding judges.
"It helped to kind of talk about where we all come from. And being able to call each other at night or on the weekend is certainly helpful," Earl said.
