New red light cameras must come with 30-day warning, Supreme Court rules

California jurisdictions must make a public warning for each new red light camera installed, the state Supreme Court has ruled. But defense lawyers worry whether the decision will help their clients.

California cities and counties must make a public announcement for each new red light camera installed in their jurisdiction, the state Supreme Court has ruled.


The decision Thursday involved a 2008 red light citation received by Steven E. Gray, who claimed Culver City officials violated state law when they did not provide public notices for a new traffic camera.
