Jury Awards $40M To Ex-Contractor

A Los Angeles Superior Court jury Wednesday awarded a former construction contractor $40 million in punitive damages. The jury found that his insurance company, a subsidiary of Farmer's Insurance, forced him into bankruptcy by failing to pay a judgment covered under his policy, then abandoned him in bankruptcy when he tried to get out from under the judgment.
