Gibson Dunn: NORTEL TO ADD SONOMA IN $540 MILLION TRANSACTION

Canada's Nortel Networks Corp. is acquiring Sonoma Systems Inc. of Los Angeles. The $540 million deal should close by year's end. Nortel will pay $480 million in stock, and up to $60 million more in stock if Sonoma meets certain business objectives in the first year after closing. The deal comes just six months after Nortel arranged to incorporate Sonoma's technology into a range of its network products.
