Santa Clara's Transmeta Corp. has filed an initial public offering valued at $200 million. The company's chip, the Crusoe processor, extends the battery life of portable computers and next-generation Internet access devices. With IBM and Toshiba on board as manufacturers of the new chip, Transmeta hopes to compete in a market thus far dominated by Intel Corp.'s processors.
