San Mateo County a choice setting for doing business

Sandwiched between the core of Silicon Valley and San Francisco, San Mateo County plays go-between in another way as well: its local taxes are neither as low as Santa Clara County's nor as high as San Francisco's. Most business taxes there are moderately high, but they are offset by few utility taxes and low property taxes, according to the 2000 Kosmont Cost of Doing Business Survey-National Online Edition .
