Panel won't review discrimination case against Wal-Mart

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal denial is another blow to the long-running Dukes case centering on gender bias.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied a petition for review Tuesday from the plaintiffs in a long-running gender discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc.


The plaintiffs sought review of a Northern District decision denying class certification. The case, filed in 2001 and initially alleging a nationwide class of about 1 million workers, led to a landmark decision from the U.S. Supreme Court that has created obstacles to class certification in other lawsuits.
