Amid criticism, judicial branch airs rules to open meetings

Committee meetings would be more open under draft rules proposed by branch leaders. But transparency proponents say the new rules are still too restrictive.

The state's judicial branch on Thursday circulated draft rules to open its policy committee meetings to the public following years of criticism that its decision-making process is too opaque. But some transparency advocates criticized the long awaited proposal for delineating a broad list of circumstances under which meetings would still be closed.
