Cases over defective hip implants could see $4 billion settlement, reports say

Health care giant Johnson & Johnson could be on the verge of sealing a $4 billion deal to wrap up more than 11,000 lawsuits over allegedly faulty metal hip implants, according to media reports.

Health care giant Johnson & Johnson has tentatively agreed to pay $3 billion plus medical expenses to settle more than 11,000 state and federal lawsuits nationwide over allegedly faulty metal hip implants manufactured by a subsidiary, according to a lawyer involved in the negotiations.


Other media reports put the total payout at around $4 billion.
