Hollywood ethics and the Talent Agencies Act

Since 1982, California's Talent Agencies Act - the 1978 law requiring a person who procures work for an artist, i.e., an agent, to obtain a license - has expanded the definition of "procuring employment" to include (i) introducing artists to producers or directors; (ii) initiating contacts with employers; (iii) furthering an offer for an artist-employer; and (iv) negotiating employment contracts.
