Use of Information Act Does Not Kill Fraud Claim

SAN FRANCISCO - In a case involving alleged medical abuse of puppies by scientific researchers who lied about their project to win government funding, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals set a new precedent Wednesday holding that documents obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests are fair game for False Claims Act lawsuits seeking monetary damages for fraud on taxpayers.
