Lone Wolf Builds Crusader Legacy

If octogenarian lawyers are not supposed to play solo, outraged crusading litigators, no one has bothered to tell Lynn S. Carman. He is a lean, mean, 82-year-old litigating machine.

It was 11 o'clock on the night before key oral arguments at a federal appeals court, and Lynn S. Carman was getting sleepy. He had spent several hours non-stop reviewing his latest case.

So when the 82-year-old rose from the table of his San Francisco hotel room and said he needed some rest, his partner started packing up for the night. Carman shooed him away from the files.
