A proposed law promises a simple way to improve voir dire. So why is a group of judges working behind the scenes to kill the bill?

Assembly Bill 1541, authored by Assemblymember Ash Kalra, D-San Jose, would help weed out biased jurors in criminal cases by requiring prospective jurors to fill out a written questionnaire.
