Immigration Appeal Policy Is Reversed

U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder overturned a Bush Administration policy that held that defendants in immigration court had no constitutional right to an effective lawyer.

In a highly anticipated decision, U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder overturned a Bush Administration policy that found defendants in immigration court had no constitutional right to an effective lawyer.

With the three-page decision, Holder restored immigrants' right to appeal in cases of attorney errors.
