Settlement would secure funds for sagging schools

Los Angeles Unified School District will have to budget roughly $25 million a year for three years to fund programs in 37 struggling L.A. schools.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Unified School District will have to budget roughly $25 million a year for three years to fund programs in 37 struggling L.A. schools under a tentative settlement in a major education suit announced Tuesday.


The agreement in the equal protection class action mandates funding so that schools can maintain adequate numbers of experienced teachers and administrators.
