Dexcom plans on building manufacturing facility in Phoenix

Kevin Sayer, Dexcom's president and chief executive officer, said the company picked Mesa, Ariz., because of its "available, talented workforce," its proximity to the firm's headquarters and key suppliers in San Diego, and the increasing growth of the health care industry in Phoenix.

San Diego's Dexcom Inc. (Nasdaq: DXCM), which specializes in continuous glucose monitoring for diabetes patients, unveiled plans on Monday to build a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Mesa, Ariz., a suburb of Phoenix.

The new, 180,000-square-foot facility, which is expected to open in the spring of 2017, is projected to create more than 500 jobs over the next several years.
