Appeals court rules against ReDigi startup

Capitol Records LLC wins court ruling; ReDigi can't legally resell music downloads.

Both Apple Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. have applied for patents to create an online marketplace for secondhand digital files. But a New York court's ruling on Monday that startup ReDigi Inc., which operates a site that allows users to trade "used" iTunes tracks, infringed copyrights owned by Capitol Records, may not bode well for these business models.
