Malpractice claim against Pasadena lawyer lives on

The 9th Circuit let a malpractice action continue against a Pasadena lawyer involved in bringing Filipino teachers to the U.S., though an earlier jury verdict means Robert B. Silverman probably will escape human trafficking allegations.

A Pasadena lawyer cannot block a malpractice lawsuit against him over a program that imported 350 Filipino teachers to Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday.


But thanks to a jury verdict in favor of his co-defendants late last year, Robert B. Silverman likely will no longer face accusations of human trafficking, attorneys said.
