WASHINGTON - Senate Republicans failed to gather enough votes Tuesday to filibuster President Barack Obama's first judicial nominee, clearing the way for a confirmation vote.
The Senate voted 70-29 to end debate on the nomination of David F. Hamilton, a district judge in Indiana selected by Obama in March to join the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
