Judge Zaps $6 Million Award in Taser Lawsuit

The family of a Salinas man will receive $150,000 instead of $6 million for his wrongful death by Taser shock, a federal judge ruled.

LOS ANGELES - The family of a Salinas man will receive $150,000 instead of $6 million for his wrongful death by Taser shock, a federal judge ruled.

U.S. District Court Judge James Ware in San Jose reduced the award against the stun gun maker by $5.2 million, writing that punitive damages are typically not recoverable under California law in a wrongful death suit.
