Private Enforcement Shakedowns Must End

Finn - As an attorney whose practice focuses in large part on advising real-estate professionals and residential landlords on how to comply with the growing number of statutes, ordinances and regulations the relationship between landlords and tenants in California, I was heartened to see that the state Office of the Attorney General and the California Court of Appeal have recognized and addressed one of the most disturbing recent trends facing California's housing industry: frivolous lawsuits from "bounty hunters" under California's Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986).
