Defendant who sought NSA records wins dismissal

A federal judge has dismissed a case in which a defense lawyer unsuccessfully sought National Security Agency phone records to clear his client's name.

A federal judge has dismissed a case in which a defense lawyer unsuccessfully sought National Security Agency phone records to clear his client's name.

Judge William Shubb of the Eastern District of California wrote in his Friday ruling that federal agents took too long - more than two years - to arrest and file charges against Nelson Ponce-Vasquez, whom the government accused of selling methamphetamine in Vallejo in 2011. Ponce-Vasquez was arrested in June.
