Cutting hours to avoid health care law could spawn litigation, lawyers fear
The health care law includes provisions that could color a schedule change as retaliation. So corporate attorneys are clamoring to warn their clients that trying to circumvent the law with reduced hours could bring harsh penalties.

With the advent of the Affordable Care Act, pundits and economists have predicted companies will shift their workforce to part-time schedules to avoid having to provide employees with health insurance. Various restaurant chains, like the owners of Red Lobster and Olive Garden, have already announced they'll cut hours.
But there's a problem with that strategy: It might be illegal.
