Exxon Still Mired in $5B Verdict

SAN FRANCISCO - A "tasteless joke" told by a bailiff to a juror during deliberations was not enough to bring down the $5 billion punitive damage verdict against oil giant Exxon Mobil Corp. in the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.
