Howard Rice BIGGER-MONEY MERGER FOR BIGGER-MONEY COMPANIES In an agreement valued at $2.7 billion, San Francisco's Charles Schwab Corp. has acquired New York's U.S. Trust Corp. Under the terms of the transaction, Schwab will swap 3.427 shares of its stock for each share of U.S. Trust Stock. Both companies will keep their own brand names but will operate as one business.
