Bratz Case Pauses for Dispute Over Lead-Attorney Status

O'Melveny & Myers, which was defending MGA Entertainment against a high-stakes legal challenge to its ownership of the wildly popular Bratz dolls, abruptly left the case in October, attorneys said, because of a spat between the Los Angeles law firm and the Van Nuys-based toy maker over who should serve as lead trial counsel in the case and how much MGA should pay O'Melveny in attorney fees.
