Despite Money Woes, Judges Train in Luxury

Despite a budget outlook so bleak that courts are closing an extra day a month, the AOC is paying for 130 new judges and other judicial officers to stay in an opulent San Jose mansion for two weeks of training.

SAN FRANCISCO - Despite a budget outlook so bleak courts are closing one extra day a month, the state Administrative Office of the Courts is putting new judges up in an opulent San Jose mansion for two weeks of training.

Food, lodging and meeting rooms are expected to cost $337,000 - nearly 30 percent more than last year.
