City officials broke ground on the new Torrey Meadows Neighborhood Park in Torrey Highlands Wednesday.
The $7.9 million park will serve the surrounding neighborhoods with sports fields and play areas for children.
"This project has been long awaited and will be a great addition to the Rancho Peñasquitos, Black Mountain Ranch and Torrey Highlands communities, providing a much needed space for children and adults to enjoy," San Diego City Councilman Mark Kersey said.
