Open Primary Law to Take Effect

The California Supreme Court declined Wednesday to block the state's open primary law from going into effect while a separate court challenge on the merits is pending.

The California Supreme Court declined Wednesday to block the state's open primary law from going into effect while a separate court challenge on the merits is pending.


Proposition 14 that passed in June allows voters to choose from among Democrats and Republicans in the primary. The top two candidates regardless of party face off in the general election.
