Trial courts fretting over new workload-based funding formula

Despite the Judicial Council's historic plan so far eliciting nothing but praise from county courts and legislators, courts that stand to gain under the plan have voiced some apprehension that the effort might be abandoned.

SACRAMENTO - When state Assembly and Senate subcommittees voted last week to bolster funding for the judicial branch by $100 million, they also gave an approving nod to the Judicial Council's recent decision to begin implementing a new workload-based court funding formula that will shift millions to historically underfunded courts.
