IP law association hosts Judge's Night

Chief Judge Randal A. Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit headlined the annual Judge's Night gala, sponsored by the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association and the Judge Paul R. Michel IP Inn of Court on Feb. 21. Rader spoke about the need for streamlining patent litigation and about the duty of attorneys to focus on efficiency. Then, Rader joined district judges Andrew Guilford and Gary A. Fees in a lively exchange on IP and patent law issues, including whether deference should be given to the district courts' claim construction, the importance of en banc opinions and issues of induced infringement. Over 170 IP attorneys and judges were in attendance at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel gathering. -Jean Yung
