Riverside officials face onus of litigation over cross on public land
After receiving threats of a lawsuit over an alleged violation of the Establishment Clause, Riverside city officials have said they will consider selling the land on Mount Rubidoux that contains a cross to avoid legal consequences.

On a breezy Wednesday morning, dozens of hikers climbed the slope of Riverside's Mount Rubidoux, following the path beaten down by generations before them. Many also traversed the public park unaware the 103-year-old cross at its peak could present a constitutional violation that, until now, has gone virtually unnoticed.
