Courts dodge bullet with Prop. 30 passage

Proposition's success means no new cuts, and likely Democratic supermajorities could aid courts' funding.

State courts got a double dose of good news in Tuesday's election results: the passage of Proposition 30, the governor's tax-increase measure, and an apparent Democratic supermajority in both houses of the Legislature.


Judicial branch staff said they likely avoided further budget cuts, and some political observers said the branch gained at least the possibility of having past cuts restored.
