Justices grant rare reversal in death penalty case

Two death row defendants got a rare reprieve Monday from the state Supreme Court, which unanimously overturned their convictions based on the improper dismissal of a potential holdout juror.

Two death row defendants got a rare reprieve Monday from the state Supreme Court, which unanimously overturned their convictions based on the improper dismissal of a potential holdout juror.


Supervising Deputy State Public Defender Andrew S. Love called the long-awaited decision a prime example of the dysfunction of the state's death penalty system.
