High Court Considers Whether to Compel Rape Testimony

None of the California Supreme Court justices took kindly to the suggestion Wednesday that rape victims should be forced to cross state lines to testify.

Sometimes it's best not to argue semantics with justices of the California Supreme Court, as defense attorney Patricia Scott learned the hard way on Wednesday.

Scott argued that prosecutors should have escorted a deaf rape victim to a Colorado airport and made sure she showed up to testify in a San Diego courtroom.
