Judge Blazed a Trail to Federal Bench
U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper, perhaps best known for presiding over some of Southern California's toughest cases in her 10 years on the federal bench, died Friday morning at the age of 69, two months shy of her planned retirement.

U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper, perhaps best known for presiding over some of Southern California's toughest cases in her 10 years on the federal bench, died Friday morning, two months shy of her planned retirement. She was 69.
Cooper reportedly had been receiving treatment for lymphoma at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica when she died.
