School Strip Search Ruled a Violation
The U.S. Supreme Court Thursday issued decisions in two school-related cases coming out of Arizona. In one, the court affirmed a 9th Circuit ruling that held that school officials violated the Fourth Amendment rights of a 13-year-old girl who was strip-searched on the suspicion of carrying ibuprofen. In the other, the court reversed the 9th Circuit's finding that a federal judge in Arizona abused his discretion when he required the state to continuously increase funding for ESL instruction.
