MONTEREY - Despite the successful passage of a bond measure to fix California aging courthouses, Chief Justice Ronald M. George predicts it's going to be a lean year for the state judiciary.
Delivering his annual "State of the Judiciary" speech Saturday, at the State Bar meeting in Monterey, George said the courts will have to absorb large budget cuts because of the ailing economy.
