American Jewish Committee Honors Lawyer

LOS ANGELES - Alan Friedman credits Joseph Welch, the Army lawyer who famously asked Sen. Joseph McCarthy if he had no shame, with inspiring him to become a lawyer. And he credits his father, who had been placed in an orphanage at 7, with instilling in him a deep-seated community service ethic.
