Families Must Step Up to Stem the Dropout Rate
Letter to the Editor - In her Op-Ed piece, "A Separate and Unequal Dropout Rate" (March 14 Daily Journal), Areva Martin opines that with a one-third (or more) dropout rate, Los Angeles Unified School District students are in dire straits. She is absolutely correct. They are. But the answer is not "mentoring, tutoring, community collaboration, intensive intervention programs and school-to-work programs," all of which cost money.
