The holiday season is here, and it's almost the end of a year that we would prefer to forget. The holidays also have their effect on our justice system. Law and motion matters disappear, for the most part, between Dec. 20 and Jan. 2. Family law ex partes hearings, however, increase around the same time as parents are unable to agree to which part of Christmas day they can have their children.
