Mandatory Military Service Will Build Morals, Character
Professor Edwin A. Locke's salute to Veterans Day, "Honor Veterans Day by Refusing to Sacrifice Values," Forum, Nov. 12, opines that "our armed forces should consist only of volunteers." He also concludes that "[i]f the cause is just and the American interests are clear, then there will be no shortage of enlistments." I submit that is as naive as his contention that "[a] volunteer force will prevent politicians from involving us in senseless wars."
