Conditions for women in Los Angeles haven't changed much in the past 29 years. When Connie McFall, executive director of Rainbow Services, a Los Angeles shelter for battered women, unpacked boxes after a recent move, she found a 1971 copy of a study indicating that the top concerns among working women were child care and transportation.
