Just 45 percent of graduates from the state's top law schools who took the bar exam for the first time in February passed, a success rate eclipsed by repeat takers from those institutions.
Typically, repeat takers fare worse on the licensing test as a whole, but 46 percent of repeaters from American Bar Association-accredited schools in California passed the most recent exam.
