Judge lowers trial costs in Toyota bellwether case

A Los Angeles judge has axed certain trial expenses requested by the winning and losing sides in the first unintended acceleration trial against Toyota Motor Corp. in California.

The judge in the first unintended acceleration personal injury trial against Toyota Motor Corp. in the state has tentatively reduced the amount of money losing plaintiffs owe to the carmaker by $30,000 four months after a jury cleared the carmaker of liability in a fatal 2009 crash.
