Civil trial voir dire bill advance in state Legislature

The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill Tuesday designed to prevent judges from imposing "unreasonable or arbitrary time limits" during voir dire in civil trials.

SACRAMENTO — The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill Tuesday designed to prevent judges from imposing "unreasonable or arbitrary time limits" during voir dire in civil trials.

SB 658 plans to clarify 2011 legislation, AB 1403, that addressed the issue of judges rushing or limiting jury selection.
