Majors-Lewis was named judicial appointments secretary this year at a time when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was accused of favoring white males for the bench. This African-American woman took on the task with gusto, crisscrossing the state talking to bar groups to recruit a more diverse pool of judicial applicants.
