Law creates limited privilege for communications about sexual harassment
Assembly Bill 2770 expands existing law concerning privileged communications to include communications by former employers dealing with former employees and claims of sexual harassment.

On July 9, Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2770 into law, expanding existing law concerning privileged communications to include communications by former employers dealing with former employees and claims of sexual harassment. The bill amended Section 47 of the California Civil Code and is effective Jan, 1, 2019.
